It seems there to have so many theories of the long races during the training of marathon. How many times should you run? How far to run? The races how much long ones? How quick? The this is my bend to give some opinions and some theories of this subject.

I believe that constructing the mileage for a marathon is the biggest thief of execution. The training for the weeks and the weeks more to add mileage leaves a person wore herself. The weeks and the weeks of long races add to this exhaustion.


I consider a long race to be more than 15 miles in the length. When the length begins approaching 20 miles more stress even are added to your training. I prefer to run long races two weeks in a row. Rest the third week and third to take an additional day of complete rest.

Example: The week 1 - Sunday a long time
The week 2 - Sunday a long time
The week 3 - the Rest of Sunday, the Rest of Monday

The next controversial subject is how far to run? My own experience to run 15 marathons taught me that I need to run a 23 or 24 mile chases long in training roughly three weeks before the true race. I recommend this because, confidence that I receive and the time spent on my feet. Every time that I tried to run just 20 mile I runs a long time always hit the wall to 20 miles. Go beyond 20 miles and increasing to 23 or 24 miles always prevented the event of form of wall.

To traverse for the marathon chase long should be very comfortable. The reason for your marathon chase long are purely aerobic. The other aspects of your training of marathon will address the marathon traverses etc. I recommend using a supervisor of rate of heart for all training, especially during the long races. Keep your heart rate to the under of 75% of maximum. Go above 75% will lengthen the time of restoration of your long race.

The races how much long ones? I prefer to induce 20 weeks for a marathon. I do not believe projects training less than this is very effective. The body needs the time to adapt and become stronger. Most of the contracted injuries during the projects of shorter training are caused while adding a lot to stress in a short quantity of time.

I will not begin my marathon inducing until I finished the training for a half marathon in the first spring. After running a half marathon my long races will be more than 15 miles. This is a voucher not at all to begin race adding more than 18 miles. I will try to run 6 or 7 long races of 20 miles during the training of marathon. My last long race of 23 or 24 miles will be done three weeks before the day of race of marathon. Then I will begin my candle.
